Historically, if you desired a child and could not fulfil that need in the traditional way, you adopted. This was so common that from the inception of the Adoption Act 1955 until the early 90’s over 91,000 children were acquired for adoption. These numbers tell an important story. But perhaps not the story you think. Barbara Sumner will speak in conversation with Tanya Thomson on this topic.
