The Torah and Ecology

I have always pondered about the relationship between us Jews and the Planet. What does the Torah instruct to us in terms of our rights and obligations over nature? Specifically from a Judaic perspective, what responsibilities do we have, what rules do we need to follow as we continue our transformation of the Natural Capital into a technological, man-made ecosystem. We Jews, in the land of Canaan, have erupted a thriving country and thriving economy that stands both as the pinnacle of technological innovation and environmental leadership. What did we learn from the Torah? Is there a unique Jewish perspective to the natural capital? This is what I will try to construct in my expose on the state of ecology and the environment in the 21st century, using as narrative my work in business and sustainability in the US and New Zealand. At the end of this session, Sam Dyson will facilitate a Q&A.
